This project was born out of the extraordinary empathy between the clients and the architect. Of primary importance is the site – a two-acre plateau rising slightly over the surrounding orange groves facing north towards the towering mount Etna. The vista is of such importance to both the architect and the clients that they decide to position the vast rectangular double-height living-room along the south-north axis with the entire 6×5 mt-glass wall opening out towards the volcano. The effect is further emphasized by the positioning of a 33-mt long swimming pool just outside the glass wall and facing the mountain.
The local microclimate makes it possible for two splendid chorisias -a tropical plant- to grow and generously bloom. When deciding where the building would rise and the windows should open it became imperative to take into consideration the exact position of the two trees.
The villa is almost finished while work on the garden and the pool is lagging behind.
